This is an opportunity for you to join content expert Christina Baker, RDH, MEd and other fellow educators to discuss strategies for effective clinic calibration, student grading and evaluation and teaching clinical case studies in the virtual setting. Discussion will include the purposes and various strategies for clinic calibration, student clinical grading and evaluation techniques while also incorporating faculty calibration practices, enhancing student clinical skills in a virtual setting while also enhancing faculty calibration, specific topics relevant to faculty calibration, and a discussion of measurement strategies of effective faculty clinic calibration.

Objectives:

  • Discuss the purposes and strategies for clinic faculty calibration geared toward program needs and CODA standards.
  • Discuss student clinical grading and evaluation techniques while also incorporating faculty calibration techniques.
  • Review strategies for teaching clinical skills in a virtual setting.
  • Discuss specific topics relevant for faculty calibration in the clinical setting.
  • Discuss measurement strategies of effective clinic faculty calibration.

Educators Platform Masterminds are dynamic two-hour virtual sessions building on each other’s challenges, ideas and successes in the presence of a content expert. Mastermind sessions are thoughtfully facilitated to create an environment for like-minded colleagues to share and learn from one another with the goal of collective professional growth and development. Sessions are uniquely tailored to the needs of participants. Those attending will have the opportunity to create strong connections with other participants to last a whole career.

More about our content expert: Christina Baker, RDH, MEd earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and her Master of Education in Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in student well-being at the University of Missouri. Since 2019, she had served as the Clinic Coordinator at UMKC and as Assistant Clinical Professor. Her research interests are in clinical calibration, clinical education, and periodontology. Christina served as Vice President of Sigma Phi Alpha- Supreme Chapter and as President of Greater Kansas City Dental Hygienists’ Association. Christina is also a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and American Dental Education Association. She recently presented at the 2021 ADEA Allied Program Directors’ Conference and recently received certification in Effective College Instruction from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE).
