This is an opportunity for you to join content expert Iwonka Eagle, RDH MS, and other fellow educators to discuss instructional approaches to incorporate advanced imaging technologies and their integration into dental practices. Participants will explore strategies for better preparing students to utilize these cutting-edge technologies into dental education. Additionally, the course will foster an environment that embraces modern imaging tools into the curriculum to enhance learning outcomes.

Course Objectives:

• Identify the challenges in teaching handheld x-ray devices for intra-oral imaging
• Discuss the techniques and applications of extra-oral imaging, including cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)
• Comprehend the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool for integration into imaging practices

Educators Platform Masterminds are dynamic two-hour virtual sessions building on each other’s challenges, ideas and successes in the presence of a content expert. Mastermind sessions are thoughtfully facilitated to create an environment for like-minded colleagues to share and learn from one another with the goal of collective professional growth and development. Sessions are uniquely tailored to the needs of participants. Those attending will have the opportunity to create strong connections with other participants to last a whole career.

More about our content expert: Dr. Carolyn Huynh is an associate professor in the Department of Diagnostics & Biomedical Sciences at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. Dr. Huynh brings over 40 years of experience in the dental profession, beginning her career as a dental assistant and a dental lab technician assistant before becoming a dentist. She also holds a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instructions and a Doctorate of Education in Professional Leadership with an emphasis in health science education. After many years in clinical practice, she found her passion in academia. For more than two decades, she has specialized in teaching oral maxillofacial radiology at the undergraduate level. In addition to educating students, she has dedicated herself to training other educators. Dr. Huynh leads a program that introduces students to academia as a career path and co-directs a similar initiative for clinicians. Her goal is to share her knowledge and experiences with educators, enabling them to effectively teach, discuss, and experiment with various teaching methods and tools, while fostering close relationship with like-minded professionals.
