This session focuses on course design for Dental Health Education. We will explore strategies for integrating experiential learning throughout the curriculum, including the use of free online CE courses, recorded clinic sessions for self-assessment, empathy-building activities, in-class group case studies, and AI-assisted co-critique of a research article.

Learning Objectives

Educators Platform Masterminds are dynamic two-hour virtual sessions building on each other’s challenges, ideas and successes in the presence of a content expert. Mastermind sessions are thoughtfully facilitated to create an environment for like-minded colleagues to share and learn from one another with the goal of collective professional growth and development. Sessions are uniquely tailored to the needs of participants. Those attending will have the opportunity to create strong connections with other participants to last a whole career.

More about our content expert: Karin Davis, BSDH, MS has been in dentistry for almost 4 decades, practiced clinical dental hygiene for 19 years and has 12 years of experience in dental hygiene education. She has been the Preclinic Coordinator at Johnson County Community College since 2019, follows the first-year students into Clinic II as a clinical instructor, teaches Dental Health Education, and serves as a SADHA Advisor for the JCCC ADHA Student Chapter. She loves teaching Dental Health Education and has endeavored to bring creativity and enthusiasm to the curriculum. Karin has also taught Histology & Embryology, Evidence-Based Decision Making, Dental Biomaterials, Human Nutrition, Ethics & Law and Board Review.

Attendees of Educators Platform Mastermind sessions will earn 2 CEU in Educational Methods.
